The P1000 is the first generation android tablet from Samsung in the Galaxy series. Thanks to CyanogenMod, one was able to enjoy Android 6 Marshmallow on it. Samsung had abandoned it but the community didn’t which is why even after nearly a decade after its official release, it is still somehow able to get relatively new operating system.
The Android 6 ROM is working surprisingly well on with almost everything working as well. It is suggested to complete wipe of data, cache and system before installing the firmware.
Here are the installation instructions:
1. Install ROM zip, you will get a warning about partition size change of system if its the first time you flash, just flash it a second time to confirm the change, this will erase your data partition.
2. Install gapps from here. Do not reboot – install gapps first. If you skip this part, you will have to hard reset again for getting gapps running. You cannot install them later.
What is working?
Camera (use third party such as open camera
Audio + vibrate
That is it. You are now running Android 6 Marshmallow on your Galaxy Tab P1000.
The Samsung Galaxy S3 was launched in 2012 meaning that it is now a little over 3 years old. By Android standards, that makes the device pretty old and as far as getting updates are concerned, you can forget about it, at least not in the official capacity. The good news is that if you’re still holding onto the phone, you’re in luck.
Thanks to the folks at CyanogenMod, it looks like they have managed to bring Android 6.0 Marshmallow onto the device via the CM13 nightlies build. Given that it is a nightly build, it means that you probably should not use it as your daily driver because it isn’t quite ready for that just yet, but if you don’t mind taking it for a spin you can pop on over to the CyanogenMod website for the download.
However if you do encounter bugs, you should probably inform the developers so that it can be fixed. We’re not sure when the build for the Galaxy S3 will be stable and finalized, but it is a pretty good sign that at the very least it is being worked on. The Galaxy S3 isn’t the only older device to get the update.

Earlier this month we reported that the HTC HD2 managed to get an update to Android 6.0 thanks to the CM13 build. Considering the HD2 was released in 2009, it makes it seem “ancient” when compared to the Galaxy S3.
